Charles Cella co-founded GTC and is a recognized thought leader and leading practitioner in the patent and licensing fields. He provides patent strategy, licensing and technology-transaction services to a broad range of clients, from industry leading software companies to single-inventor startups. Prior to GTC, Charles founded and was CEO of BountyQuest, an Internet marketplace for information relevant to the strength, validity or applicability of patents and for which he recruited investments from Jeff Bezos and Tim O'Reilly, among others. Previously, Charles was the first patent attorney at Foley Hoag LLP, where he grew the practice to twenty-five people and advised high-tech and biotech firms of all sizes on building IP portfolios and negotiating technology transactions. Douglas developed the original apple mouse, the first commercial mouse in the world, with three other engineers at Hovey / Kelley Design, progenitor of IDEO, in Palo Alto, California. After that he worked with Wang Laboratories, founded the advanced product development laboratory, reporting to the head of R & D during the heyday of Wang's explosive growth in the early 80's. Douglas managed research and innovation programs for nine years with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, human factors researchers and software scientists. He then founded the first remote location for IDEO in 1990 and managed the location P & L for fourteen years, growing the location to 50 people and over $7 million in annual revenue. Developed a client base for the location comprised of many companies from the Fortune 100 but including startups from the dynamic venture environment around Boston. The office provided innovation services to a wide range of industries including healthcare / medical, consumer goods, retail, transportation and telecommunications The business model sought to create a large portfolio of innovative products that would be developed and merchandised through a network of strategic channel partners. the company invented more than 50 different products and filed more than 200 individual patents in the target markets of sustainability, longevity, mass customization and consumer tools and devices to make household chores more fun. Doglas has an MS from Stanford University, a BS in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati, and is a named inventor for 250 patents.
Russell brings a successful track record of leadership with both start-ups and established companies. Prior experience includes acting as Senior Vice President of Spryance Inc., a leading India-based supplier of medical transcription services to US and European clients, and senior management roles with Lycos and Viatel, both publicly traded technology-enabled service businesses. Russell has also been a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and a venture capitalist with NatWest County Ventures. He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Law from Oxford University.
